Week 8
Web2 awards.
I investigated donorschoice.org and was really impressed by what the site was achieving. The site matches school teachers who need funding for classroom projects with donors who donate money to sponsor the project. What impressed and shocked me was the amount of money teachers were asking for to complete their projects. Mostly it was around $300 - 400. Shocking to think that their school couldn't provide them with that much money. One great thin about the site is that sponsors receive feebdack and photos from the teachers whose project they have supported so theyknow how the money was spent. Projects included quilt supplies to make quilts, a class set of dictionaries etc. A neat feature of the site is that you can set up a challenge where you list the proposals that you think are worthy of being sponsored then encourage your friends and family to support them. You can see how much has been donated to the project and how much more money is needed to complete it. i think this is a great use of the web and is somethingwhich should look at doing here in NZ.
Have posted the link onto the acl wiki btw

That is shocking. I can see that being really beneficial in New Zealand.
Maybe it could be organised for things like community projects/school holiday programmes too?
